Have you heard of the Young Traders markets, or the NMTF before? With the finals of the NMTF’s Young Traders of the Year 2022 recently taking place, we wanted to delve into the Young Traders markets and the people behind them (the NMTF), and why the organisation is so beneficial to the market community.
We at Pedddle are passionate about every aspect of the market community, from getting customers to experience wonderful events across the UK, helping them to interact with markets and their stallholders, to providing benefits for markets and their stallholders too.
The NMTF is an organisation which also benefits stallholders that sell at markets, so we are glad to support them. You may have heard of their work with the Young Traders markets and awards before – several Pedddle members have been nominated and have won awards there in the past.
What are the Young Traders Markets?
The Young Traders markets aim to promote and support some of the fantastic young talent (under 30s) that the UK has to offer. Each year, they find the Young Trader of the Year, with many other accolades and awards available. Usually taking place on the August bank holiday weekend annually, find out more about the 2022 market finals here.
What is the NMTF?
Founded well over a hundred years ago, in 1899, the National Market Traders Federation (NMTF) is the only national trade association for market and street traders, events retailers and mobile caterers in the UK. They offer mutual support to their members, representing their interests at a local level and working together to achieve common goals within the market and event community. You can read more about the NMTF’s history here.
The talent within Britain is clear; local markets have traded for centuries, and small businesses form the backbone of our economy. It’s vital that we continue to support these independent businesses, and supporting your local events is a great way of doing that.
What are the benefits of the NMTF?
The NMTF encourages all market and street traders, events retailers and mobile caterers to join them, and be united in their support and networking.
Joining the NMTF can give small businesses a range of benefits, such as liabilities insurance, promotion and advertising. Click here to find out more about their membership and offerings.
