Read on for full details!

What makes National Museums Liverpool’s Sudley House venue so great?

Although National Museums Liverpool have several venues under their hat, artisan markets thrive in particularly creative venues and it’s lovely to see a market in such a wonderful historic venue.

Grace Edwards, Marketing Officer at National Museums Liverpool, says “Our collections are among the most important and varied in Europe and contain everything from Impressionist paintings and rare beetles to a life jacket from the Titanic”, proving that the best artisan markets are often found in the most artistic and unique of settings!

Sudley House itself, a Victorian merchant house, stands as a remarkable testament to Victorian life, featuring masterpieces from the 18th and 19th centuries, with works from celebrated artists including Gainsborough, Reynolds, Turner and the pre-Rapaelites.

It’s brilliant to see modern makers in such a historic venue, continuing artistic traditions.

So why visit the Sudley House Handmade market?

The return of Sudley House Handmade was confirmed for 2025 after a blockbuster debut, with the first event last year proving a great success. Both summer and winter dates have now been announced following the exceptional first event.

The summer edition will take place on Saturday 16th August 2025, with the winter market following on Saturday 22nd November, and both markets bringing the magic of local craftsmanship and creativity back to this historic south Liverpool venue.

The debut Sudley House Handmade in November 2024 attracted hundreds of visitors eager to discover unique handcrafted gifts in the atmospheric setting of the former merchant’s mansion, with Grace Edwards, Marketing Officer at National Museums Liverpool, stating, “We were absolutely thrilled with the response to our first Sudley House Handmade market. The feedback from both visitors and traders was exceptional, and we can’t wait to build on that success with our 2025 events. The summer edition will offer something different, giving visitors the chance to explore the beautiful grounds of Sudley House alongside discovering amazing local talent. Our winter market will once again transform the historic rooms into a festive shopping experience, perfect for finding those special Christmas gifts.”
