We are Waney Grain. We are artisan woodworkers/gilders creating beautiful turnery and unique, hand-sanded food serving boards

Christmas trees

On the Waney Grain lathe Nick creates the most beautiful and tactile Christmas trees in a vast selection of hardwoods, both native British and Exotic, all of which are responsibly sourced. Ranging from 2 inch to 10 inch and in a spectacular range of natural colours, our trees are perfect both clustered together as little forests or as single stand-alone ornaments, and make wonderful gifts. Our stunning Fantasy Forest includes trees gilded with silver leaf, gold leaf and a range of delightful confetti metals in beautiful colour mixes. All of our trees are available as single items and as boxed sets.

Snowmen

We craft unique and charming snowmen from a range of world woods. From the sleek black elegance of Indian Ebony and the eccentric purple quirkiness of Purpleheart to the famiiar tones of English oak, elm and maple. The spectacular grain creates imaginative features, and the handfeel of these wonderful woods is a delight.

Coasters, sommeliers, candles, tealight holders and othersuch

We create wooden coasters to hold a single bottle, and sommeliers that incorporates a coaster with a surrounding ‘food moat’. This is a very stylish way of serving drinks and nibbles, and the coaster aperture fits most standard bottles. Our wooden candles are unusual decorative objets d’art, and are available in a variety of woods. Our ‘Light in the Dark’ candles have gilded flames. We offer unusual tealight holders, wooden stacking bricks, peg doll play figures and a range of very chunky and bold jewellery.

Food boards

Waney Grain make handcrafted wooden serving boards, plinths and table centres, using rip-cut [down the grain] or cross cut wood that reveals stunning grain, inclusions, burrs and contour lines in spectacular hues and variations.

Our plinths and boards offer a tactile, elegant, eye-catching and unique way for you to display, serve, share and enjoy a variety of comestibles including wine, cheeses, fruits, nuts, charcuterie, cakes, breads, anti-pasti and tapas. Our beautiful plinths look stunning as table centres bedecked with candles and foliage, and when not in use they sit beautifully unadorned. All boards are finished to a very high standard, and are treated with a food safe oil. All boards wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Our larger pieces make perfect plinths for wedding cakes and celebration centrepieces. All of Nick’s Waney Grain boards are levelled to sit balanced on a flat surface, with and without foodstuffs, and are stunning pieces of artwork when not in use. Nick offers pieces from 12 inches to 60 inch – with prices depending on wood type, burr and inclusion distribution and length.

Elflock Woolworks

We produce hand knitted luxurious wearable art scarves crafted from hand spun, hand dyed yarns. In simple patterns and super quality yarns our designs combine the comfort of soft natural fibres with the unique structuring of biodegradable wool.
