Who we are

I’m Rachel, a Textile designer/maker based in sunny South Yorkshire who hates to see anything go to waste!

My background is originally in woven textiles and I love experimenting with colour and texture within fabric. I am happiest when I’m working with bright bold colour and chunky natural fibres such as wool. All of my woven pieces are created on either my 4 shaft table loom which is nestled away in my creative corner or my frame loom, which I still insist is my portable weaving option, despite being over a meter tall!

I feel that Up North combines my passion for upcycling and craft with hand woven textiles to create a range of quirky new products which are given a new lease of life, I hope you love them as much as I do!
