Who we are

I am a multidisciplinary botanical printmaker and earth pigment artist, deeply committed to sustainable and eco-friendly practices. My work is a celebration of nature’s ephemeral beauty, inspired by cycles of decay, weathered objects, and meaningful narratives.

Using low-impact, eco-friendly inks and sustainable papers, I create prints that capture the delicate intricacies of wildflowers and quietly resonant scenes of rural life. My earth pigment work incorporates soya-based pigments on sustainable linens and vintage threads, adding warmth and a sense of history to each piece.

What sets my work apart is its site-specific nature. I grow many of the botanical elements I use and collect and grind earth pigments myself, infusing each creation with a unique sense of place. This connection to the land is evident in my depictions of treasured woodland discoveries – from weathered nests to sea-tumbled stones.

Over the past two years, I’ve been developing innovative methods for creating textures in my printing plates. This exploration, supported by an Arts Council England DYCP grant in 2022, has led me to experiment with various materials and techniques. I now produce a range of work including solar plates, collagraph, and intaglio prints, often using the botanical material itself to create intricate impressions.

My artistic process is labour-intensive, rendering each tiny detail with care. I employ a variety of media to hand-create textures that provide depth and visual stimulus, showcasing my skill in translating 3D elements into 2D form. The muted palette of my work promotes a sense of calm, while the natural elements lend warmth and authenticity.

Inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, I embrace the concept of precious imperfection in my work. This philosophy aligns with my commitment to sustainability and my desire to make my mark artistically without leaving a negative impact on the environment.

Beyond creating art, I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge and techniques. I organise and run workshops across the country and participate in open studios, allowing others to explore and learn about eco-friendly printmaking and earth pigment art.

My work can be found in various galleries and shops, where I personally deliver my pieces for exhibition or stock. This hands-on approach allows me to maintain a close connection with the venues that showcase my art and the communities that support it.
