Who we are
With a designer/pattern-cutter mother, I grew up surrounded by textiles and the frequent making of garments; easily visually stimulated and learning with her, a lifelong obsession of collecting fabrics, trims, ribbons, patterns etc resulted. As well as dressmaking, I love embroidery, quilting, tapestry, book binding, and have even made curtains. In recent years the over production of cheap fabric and garments has appalled me, leading me to pick up even more interesting fabrics needing a new home and re-purpose. From these I make highly original one-of-a-kind garments for young children – rompers, dresses, ‘swirly’ skirts and ‘Little Treasure’ bags, selling them at markets, loving to meet the visitors and other stallholders, as well as of course selling on my website- www.pickleanddot.com .
