Who we are
El Dorado Taqueria is an independent Mexican street food business based in Edinburgh, bringing authentic, comforting Mexican flavours to markets, pop-ups, and events across Scotland. Our cooking is rooted in family recipes, traditional techniques, and a deep respect for Mexican food culture, while making the most of high-quality Scottish produce and carefully sourced Mexican ingredients.
At El Dorado Taqueria, we focus on food that is honest, bold, and meant to be shared. Our menu centres around classic guisados — slow-cooked stews and fillings that form the backbone of everyday Mexican home cooking. These include favourites such as beef birria, chicken tinga, and seasonal vegetarian options made with mushrooms or jackfruit. Everything is cooked slowly and with care to develop deep, comforting flavours.
We serve our food with freshly warmed corn tortillas, handmade salsas, and traditional sides such as Mexican rice, black beans, guacamole, cactus salad (nopalitos), and tamales. Our approach is simple: no shortcuts, no gimmicks — just food prepared properly, the way it’s cooked in Mexican homes and street markets.
All of our menu is naturally gluten-free, without needing substitutes or adaptations, which makes El Dorado Taqueria a great fit for inclusive events and markets. We are also committed to sustainability wherever possible, using compostable packaging and cooking in small batches to reduce waste and maintain freshness.
