Who we are

Created By Lau is an independent Yorkshire jewellery brand founded by designer and maker Laura Jane. Based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, Laura creates bold, one-of-a-kind jewellery and small-batch statement pieces for women who want their jewellery to feel as individual as they are.

With a background in fashion from the London College of Fashion and experience working as a fashion buyer, Laura brings a fashion-led eye to her jewellery designs. Her collections are inspired by colour, texture, pattern, personal style and the unexpected, creating jewellery that is designed to be noticed rather than simply blend into an outfit.

Created By Lau specialises in handmade mixed-media jewellery, combining materials and techniques including polymer clay, resin, fibre, textiles, Jesmonite, real stones, reclaimed jewellery and other unexpected materials. Laura enjoys experimenting with different textures, colours and finishes to create pieces with their own personality.

Much of the jewellery is created as genuinely one-of-a-kind pieces or in very small batches. Rather than mass-producing the same designs, Laura embraces the individuality that comes from handmade jewellery. Small variations in colour, texture and pattern mean that every piece has its own character, making Created By Lau jewellery a great choice for anyone looking for unique jewellery, unusual earrings or statement accessories that they are unlikely to see everywhere else.

The Created By Lau collection includes handmade statement earrings, polymer clay earrings, resin jewellery, colourful studs, dangle earrings, tassel and fibre earrings, clip-on earrings and other bold accessories. There are pieces for everyday wear as well as more dramatic designs for occasions when you want your jewellery to do the talking.

Sustainability and creative reuse are also important parts of Laura’s design process. Through her No Waste and Resurrection collections, she looks for ways to reuse leftover materials, broken jewellery, unfinished pieces and other materials that might otherwise be discarded. Giving materials a second life is part of the creative challenge and often leads to completely unexpected designs.

Created By Lau is proudly independent and handmade in Yorkshire. Every piece is designed and made by Laura rather than being mass-produced, allowing her to experiment, create small collections, and continually develop new ideas.
