The relaxed and welcoming atmosphere at Tissington Craft Fair creates a unique shopping experience, where you can be sure that all of the products on the day have been hand crafted and designed by the maker behind each stall.
Feel free to browse at your own pace and chat directly to each stallholder to learn more about their creative process and any custom options available.
With only 11 stalls, our market may appear small, but we aim to showcase a variety of different makers on each individual day, with stallholders travelling from around the region (and sometimes further afield) to take part.
Tissington Village forms part of the Tissington Estate, which has been privately owned by the FitzHerbert family since the 1460’s. The village is unique in it’s beauty and character and is the perfect place to visit if you want to switch off from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life.
Tissington Hall, which was built in the early 17th century, is just a couple of minutes walk down the lane. The village is also home to a number of independent small businesses and without any of the usual high street stores, it is a delight for anyone looking to shop small.
The entrance to the Tissington Trail is also within walking distance of our venue so you can unwind and enjoy the breathtaking views whether walking or cycling, and pop into Tissington Craft Fair before or after!
Whilst events with a similar ethos to ours are now sometimes known as artisan or makers markets, we made the conscious decision to retain the traditional name of craft fair as we felt this was much more in keeping with the historical nature of the village.
Our venue, Tissington Village Hall, is located opposite the village duck pond and and the historic building has been given a fresh, modern update inside. It now benefits from a Wi-Fi connection, which means many of our stallholders can accept card payments.
There is free entry into the craft fair for visitors and your four legged friends are welcome too!
Tissington Craft Fair markets are held regularly between April and October and always include the four bank holiday weekends in April, May and August.
We are also very proud to hold craft fairs during the Tissington Well Dressing event, which is an annual tradition and celebration lasting for one week a year. The Peak District is well known for its Well Dressings, with Tissington being the most well-known and largest showcasing 6 decorated functioning wells.
The event is usually the first of the year to take place and during the course of the week, attracts thousands of visitors into the village from both the local area and across the country. The 2024 Well Dressing is due to take place from 9th - 15th May, and the craft fair will be open on the first 2 and last 3 of these days. Look out for more info on this!
