Who we are
Warren Drawing Trees is the work of Birmingham-based artist Warren Garland. My practice focuses on trees and the landscapes they inhabit, from city parks and overlooked urban spaces to woodlands and the wider British countryside.
I create detailed original ink drawings alongside handmade cyanotypes, limited-edition giclée prints, artist books and works drawn directly onto cast cement. Much of the work begins with walking, exploring and photographing places before returning to individual trees through drawing.
Recent work has increasingly focused on Birmingham and the Midlands, including trees found around Lickey Hills, Warley Woods, Croome Court and Birmingham’s parks, alongside an ongoing collection of work made across Britain.
All of my prints are produced in small editions using archival, fine-art papers, while cyanotypes and original drawings are individually made and unique. I also produce artist books bringing together larger collections of drawings and the stories and places behind them.
