Who we are

Hi, I’m Deborah, the maker behind Purple Phoenix Jewellery.

I have been creating jewellery for over 27 years, working with sterling silver, gold and platinum to make pieces that are designed to be worn, loved and treasured. Everything I create is handmade by me at my bench, using traditional goldsmithing techniques, along with great care and attention to detail.

Purple Phoenix Jewellery is heavily inspired by my love of gardening and nature. You will often find little watering cans, birdhouses, miniature garden tool charms, leaves, flowers and organic textures appearing in my designs; those small, everyday details that bring so much joy. I also enjoy using oxidised finishes to add depth and character, giving each piece a slightly rustic and timeless feel. I have various collections including Alchemy, Fidget/sensory, Garden, Nature, The Fire Within and To The Moon And Back, to name a few.

After taking a few years away from jewellery making to raise my three children, I recently returned to the bench and started Purple Phoenix Jewellery. The name reflects that journey for me, symbolising starting again, rebuilding and doing something in my working life that I love. Coming back to jewellery has felt so exciting and natural to me.

Each piece I make is either one of a kind or created in very small batches, so no two are ever exactly the same. I love that about handmade work; it makes every item feel that little bit more special and personal. Whether it is a simple pair of studs or a more detailed statement piece, everything is made with the same level of care and intention.

For me, it is not just about the jewellery itself, but also the connection behind it. I enjoy meeting people at markets, hearing their stories, and knowing that something I have made might become part of their everyday life or hold special meaning for them.

In a world that often feels fast paced and mass produced, I try to keep things slow, thoughtful and genuine. Purple Phoenix Jewellery is about craftsmanship, individuality and a love of the little things; pieces with a story, made to last.
