Curated by Dapper & Suave hosts year-round markets in Surrey, featuring diverse themes and showcasing numerous makers and small businesses. The brains behind these events are Jason and Rob, entrepreneurs who are both Market Hosts and makers, running their own business, Dapper & Suave (see below right picture for a snapshot of the accessories they make).
We caught up with them to delve into their passion for supporting fellow small business owners, their transition from market retail to hosting, and what sets their Surrey markets apart.

How long have Curated by Dapper & Suave markets been running?
We kicked off our market journey as Dapper & Suave but couldn’t find the right fit in existing platforms. Crafting a unique experience was essential for us, drawing from our retail backgrounds. So, we launched ‘Handpicked for Dorking’, a curated event held in a church hall, featuring like-minded makers. The response was overwhelming, pushing us to expand.
In 2019, we found a new home in Dorking Halls, hosting 16 events with a footfall of 1700 in our last event before 2020 brought unexpected changes as both of us lost our jobs, making Dapper & Suave and our markets our main source of income.
To streamline our brand and offerings, we rebranded as Curated by Dapper & Suave, aligning both ventures with a new website and logos, ready to continue our journey, bridging craftsmanship and community.
As Dapper & Suave, we specialize in crafting handmade, quirky, and stylish accessories like bow ties, pocket squares, Ascot cravats, lapels, and hair accessories. Our goal is to make every customer feel their absolute best and spread smiles through vibrant colours, patterns, and positivity.
Expanding on this mission, we’ve launched more markets than ever before, offering a variety of themed events throughout the year. Our aim is to provide a platform for small businesses that share our values and ethos.

What makes your markets unique?
At our core, we’re all about creating a ‘unique, friendly, creative’ atmosphere where businesses can shine focusing on fashion, lifestyle and homewares, our curated events feature brands who offer great products and customer service.
Customer care is paramount to us—something we believe is often overlooked in today’s retail landscape. We want our customers to connect with the passionate individuals behind these small businesses, to appreciate the quality and craftsmanship of their goods.
Our values have fuelled organic growth, fostering a diverse and inclusive community. Our events are described as tribes, families, and real communities—a testament to our commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
We go beyond just hosting events; we build relationships as we’re invested in the success of the businesses we work with.
It’s about mutual understanding and support. Many of our makers offer bespoke items, adding an extra layer of uniqueness for our customers.
