What is Just A Card and how can I get involved?

Here at Pedddle we’re backing the, ‘Just a Card’ campaign, which has now been running for over Seven years.

The campaign encourages customers to buy from small independent businesses, artists and designers to bring home the message that even a small purchase like a card can be the difference between them surviving and failing.

Designer and artist Sarah Hamilton started the campaign after she saw a quote saying: “If everyone who’d complimented our beautiful gallery had bought ‘just a card,’ we’d still be open,” by a storekeeper who’d recently closed their art gallery. Sarah designs and makes prints, cards and homeware herself so knows first-hand how every single small purchase helps.

Sarah set up the campaign with an amazing team of extraordinary supporters and volunteers, as a call to action to help give designers, makers and small creative business owners and independent shop owners a voice — and we’re all for it at Pedddle.

I love our team, I really couldn’t do it without the gang!

Thanks to their combined hard work and many hours graft, the support of The Design Trust and Mollie Makes as well as social media, the campaign really has gained momentum, which is fantastic to see, and we’d love you to join both them and Pedddle in backing it.

It’s really easy to do – if you go to www.justacard.org, you can add their logo to your own website, blogs and social media feeds. You can also download posters and postcards to display in shops, galleries, stalls or at events, and they have pin badges to buy to further promote the campaign. There are somewhere in the region of 13,000 posters currently displayed in indie shops all over the UK.

You can also follow Just A Card on X formerly know as Twitter and Instagram to spread the word. They’ve already amassed more than 72,000 followers on both platforms, but they need your help to spread the word far and wide and remind people how important this is.

And with Just A Card’s Indie Week taking place towards the end of November annually- a week to celebrate small independent businesses, there’s no better time to support the campaign.

Here’s the JUST A CARD list of ways you can SUPPORT THE CAMPAIGN

1. Add their logo to your blogs, websites etc.

2. Follow @justacard1 on X and Instragram – Retweet / reshare & spread the word.

3. Download posters and postcards from their website and put them up in your event or shop

4. Purchase items from their shop and wear one of their pins just like their team member Kate Marsden.

5. Donate to them
