Create the perfect BBQ day for all the family!

Need Some Inspiration?

Our top tips for the perfect BBQ… whatever the weather!

BBQ idea, Pedddle. Create the perfect BBQ day for all the family.

Want to know how to create the perfect BBQ day for all the family? You’re in the right place!

We all love a classic Barbie, and if the weather is hot then a BBQ is ideal, but in Britain we love a barbecue even in light rain! In fact, it’s practically a British tradition (probably because in the UK, sunny days aren’t exactly guaranteed!).

Whatever the weather, here are our top tips for finding great food and anything else you might possibly need, in order to create the perfect BBQ day (or night!) for everyone you know.

Paddling pool… check

Cool beer & Prosecco / non-alcoholic alternatives… check

Once you’ve got those vital essentials, who cares about the weather?!

So here is our guide to create the perfect BBQ day for all the family!

Step 1 – Choose some delicious recipes to make it memorable. We all love a burger; meat, veggie or vegan. But think outside the box. Could you add to creative spices, an unusual marinade? What about some artisan sausages, or speciality bread? There’s a million different salad and salad dressing options you could concoct, or a fruit punch or some Pimm’s could be a winner with your guests.

Step 2 – Visit your local markets, go and buy the freshest ingredients, and share the community spirit!

Click here to find food markets near you. If you’re in the Midlands, our suggestion is Daddy Cool’s Rubs & Sauces for the perfect way to marinate your chicken. Also try ‘Not Your Average Sausage’ (they can be found at Wilmslow Artisan Market) for the most fabulous sausages – but any that are freshly made with no preservatives would be great too! Get your fresh bread at the market too, and most markets have some fresh veg stalls. There are so many markets all over the country that offer things like these.

It’s not just food that you can pick up at your local markets. Think unique tableware, or something to truly make your home stand out to your guests.

Definitely don’t forget your flowers – no British summer table is complete without a pretty yellow alstroemeria bloom! See this beautiful bloom by Bloom & Wild and discover their letterbox flowers today.

Why not try some fun plants? You could use brightly painted recycled tins or beer cans and a cactus or succulent for a quirky table decoration – in fact, Cactus Parlour have some fun ideas.

Prefer to go vegan or have vegan guests? Check out these vegan markets and stallholders for some inspiration – vegan does not mean boring, in fact it could just be the most exciting option!

Step 3 – Don’t forget the snacks! We suggest The Weston Biltong Co. for the best protein-rich yet low fat Biltong a great healthy snack for all the family, or pick up some artisan crisps to snack on through the day. You may also want to pick up a few sweet treats at the markets.

You may well be stuffed full after a barbie… but you’ll definitely fit in a snack or two later on in the day!

Step 4 – After the food prep, it’s time to fill the water bombs for the kids and crack out the paddling pool, swimwear and of course lots of suncream – it’s time for the day’s entertainment! Because BBQs aren’t just about food (even if that’s your fave bit!).

Step 5 – Get the BBQ lit, get the music playing, get your friends round and enjoy.

We hope you have a fabulous time!
