Markets in London have a long history; centuries of sourcing local produce, full of unique finds, providing places to meet family and friends and always brimming with atmosphere. Our wondrous capital city is home to hundreds of fabulous markets; famous shopping destinations such as Borough Market, Portobello Road and Old Spitalfields, which are each fantastic in their own right. However, sometimes you want something a little different – a smaller independent market. Smaller indie markets give a completely different vibe and provide undiscovered gems. Often full of newer brands, local produce and quirky stalls, they make for a fantastic way to spend an afternoon, eating great artisan food, chatting and browsing through lots of handmade goods.
As both locals and tourists continue to flock to London’s markets, the choices can be overwhelming, so we’ve rounded up our own selection of the best indie markets in London. You can often find a few of Pedddle’s stallholders at them too!

Hoe St Market
Find unique art, gifts, jewellery, ceramics, homeware, cards, clothes, cakes and more from East London’s talented artists, makers, designers and bakers at this fab Walthamstow market. There are reflexology tasters too, so you can really make a day of it and enjoy great street food, an affordable bar (with local beers too!), tea and coffee, art and crafts.
There will be seating both inside and out and a relaxed, friendly vibe. Dogs are welcome too, so you can meet friends, bring the family or just you and your best four-legged friend – there is something for everyone here!
SoLo Craft Fair at Between the Bridges Southbank
Running until 12th September 2021, with potential new dates to be announced for 2022, the team behind SoLo Craft Fair have popped up on the Southbank, right by the London Eye, as part of the Between the Bridges event. With 16 themed markets held this summer, grab your chance to visit before they’re gone!
You’ll find excellent food stalls, bars, games such as pitch and put and boules, original artwork, fashion, homewares, live music, DJs and so much more. What a way to celebrate London opening up again by browsing the creations of London’s makers and celebrating our beautiful capital city. You can often find some of our members there too.
