Who we are
Designer-maker Vikki trades as Mae Kandoo. Inspired by coastal walks and seaside resorts, Mae Kandoo’s range of gifts, souvenirs and home accessories stand out because of their bespoke quality and attention to detail. From decorative textile birds, dormouse bookends and souvenir pennants to bold and bright make-up bags, providing customers with products that are unique, quirky and beautifully handmade is Mae Kandoo’s mantra! Mae Kandoo’s signature style combines differently textured fabrics with free motion machine embroidery to add detail. Tactile by design, each product is a little statement piece to have around the home (or in your handbag!). Gifts that spread a little bit of handmade joy!
Taking small steps towards protecting the environment really matters. Every product’s DNA reflects this through:
A commitment to small batch production, placing value on the time taken to ensure quality – not mass! – production.
Products are made to last as keepsakes to cherish.
Sourcing reclaimed, remnant and vintage materials within the UK to minimize the carbon footprint and help reduce landfill waste.
Mae Kandoo’s packaging consists of drawstring bags made from reclaimed fabrics. Vikki invites customers to share photos of how they re-use the bags on Instagram @maekandoo #reduceplasticwaste! Products are posted in eco friendly boxes supplied by a UK company who support Eden Reforestation Projects.
Commissions: Transforming cherished threads into keepsakes. Being entrusted with baby clothes, wedding outfits, uniforms or clothing from a lost loved one is considered a privilege. Care is taken with every stitch to convert your cherished threads into toys, blankets or cushions. Time is taken to find out about the story behind the cherished threads so the process of making is as personalized as the end product. If you have an idea but are not sure if it’s possible – do ask!
