Who we are

Shalini is the West London based creator and founder of HUTKE Jewellery, a boutique handmade statement jewellery brand specialising in natural gemstone pieces.

All jewellery in the HUTKE collection is designed by artist and designer Shalini Bharadwaj and many statement pieces are handcrafted by her in her West London studio. All other pieces are meticulously made to her designs and specifications by a family of generational artisans in Jaipur – India. Fair trade traditional practices, women empowerment and sustainable small batch production are very important to Shalini, and she works closely with a charity in India to provide vocational training to young women in a traditional gemstone setting technique which is mostly a male dominated craft. All packaging used is recyclable and Shalini is currently involved in developing a scheme to enable the use of recycled metals and used silver in jewellery, upcycling old jewellery and resetting used natural gemstones.

Shalini is often asked where her brand name ‘HUTKE’ comes from and what it means. The word “HUTKE” in Hindi, means something a little bit different, unusual or even one of a kind. With a nod to her Indian roots and love for all things original, Shalini offers just that. An exciting collection of handmade statement jewellery in a stunning array of semi-precious gemstones, blending modern aesthetic with traditional craftmanship. Most pieces are limited edition, many being one of a kind. Requests for bespoke creations are welcome.

Shalini is also a keen water colour, acrylic, mixed media and digital design artist and has participated in various solo and group art exhibitions in the UK and abroad. Her paintings are in many private collections internationally. Shalini’s painting ‘Take a Pause’ was recently selected by The Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) to be featured in their Bicentennial Exhibition at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London in March 2023.
