Who we are

Goap is an independent family-owned soap manufacturer based in Cheshire, UK. Like so many new businesses, Goap was born out of passion, frustration and vision.

Goap started with a passion for making soap using traditional cold process techniques, based around the wonderful key ingredient of goat’s milk that brings so many benefits to the skin. It was – and continues to be – enthusiastically received by all those that try it.

Further fuelled by the frustrations of so many people with liquid, artificial and chemical-laden commercial cleansers, and the frustrations and ecological concerns about of plastic waste that the consumer is left to contend with by manufacturers, Goap set out to make a difference.

Goap products are conscience-free. As well as avoiding any single-use plastics, Goap soap is made from quality ethically-sourced ingredients: quality palm-free oils and butters from sustainable sources, natural essential oils, and colours that are natural or avoid reliance on exploitative labour practices.

Goap sources its milk from a variety of small-holders and larger dairy suppliers in Cheshire, the home of dairy. These range from a small supplier within 5 miles of Goap near Sandbach which has a growing herd of about 10 free-range goats that we have come to know as individuals, to a larger dairy based in Knutsford which can fill in for any irregular milk flow from smaller suppliers. For Goap, animal welfare and contentment is priority and in all cases this is independently verified.

Our customer feedback invariably tells us that once customers try a goat’s milk based soap they immediately appreciate the difference and would not change back. Goap is intended to be the daily soap of choice for body, hair and shaving, and increasingly is proving so.
