This blog is for Instagram novices. If you’ve recently set up an Instagram business account, Insights will be invaluable to you. We’re going to talk through using your Instagram Insights so that you know exactly what to do.
Step 1 – Head to the Insights menu
Once you’re on your Grid, click the 3 lines, which will give you a drop-down menu. Click Insights.
Step 2 – Have a browse!
You’ll be able to see how many new followers you’ve gained, how many accounts you’ve reached, your average interactions (people commenting on your posts and suchlike), the age range of your audience, the area that most of your audience is based, and plenty of other useful stuff.
You can then use this information to gain insight into the kind of people that follow you, and the kind of posts and content that they respond to.
Have a scroll through the different categories – you’ll be able to see which posts got the most likes and comments. You can then see what type of posts your audience are connecting and engaging most with – and try and emulate that.
You can change the time frame too, to see if you’ve had a certain week or month with more success. This may help you to adapt your marketing strategy for each season, as well as see which times of day and days of the week are best to post.

Scheduling apps like Later can help, and they can even connect with your Instagram insights to drive engagement and help you know exactly when is best to post. Click here to find out more.
