The history of the markets
Back in 2018, Makers Market Midlands was created by CraftyBun Studio, run by Holly, and Willis Designs, run by Rick.
As market traders themselves, the two makers met at FarGo Makers Market in Coventry, and found that they had similar interests, passions and ideas for the market community as a whole. They wanted to connect the talented community of makers and artists throughout the Midlands, and help showcase what the Midlands has to offer.
Having attended many markets as stallholders, they realised that many events were not quality-controlled, and sold items that weren’t 100% handmade. Like many of Pedddle’s market organisers, they wanted to change this and focus on handmade offerings.
Makers Market Midlands today
Over the last 4 years the market has evolved but still holds its core values dear, celebrating the skills, passion and talents of local and independent makers from across the Midlands counties. There are so many truly fantastic artisan stallholders in this area, they deserve to be celebrated!
Holly and Rick also run a free online market directory for their makers, aiming to help people find local artists and promote Midlands-based talent. They now have over 150 makers listed, so you can find a Midlands-based maker near you!
