Who we are
I’m Rachael and I make sustainable homewares and accessories, including reusable food wraps, silk scarves and scrunchies.
I also sell DIY Dye kits, which make great gifts, and in-person dye workshops. I offer a bespoke dye service, including dyeing a silk scarf from your favourite flowers or wedding bouquet.
I use organic hemp, UK peace silk (from a UK silk farm), eco-tex linen and vintage cotton & linen, which is hand dyed using sustainably foraged flowers, vegetables and leaves, and sewn on my 1920’s hand crank sewing machine.
Everything I make is sustainably sourced and compostable, with the aim that my business makes as little impact on the environment as possible. I am also an advocate for hemp as a brilliantly sustainable yet underused fibre.
I was thrilled to be chosen as an Eco-ambassador for Maker Change 2021, a month long initiative encouraging sustainable practice in small business. In 2022 Cocoon received a Commendation from Southwark Business Awards in both their ‘Best New Business’ and ‘Sustainable Green Investment’ Awards. In 2023 Cocoon won an SME News Business Elite Award for ‘Leaders in Sustainable Product Production’.
