Without further ado, here are some of the best markets in Manchester…

1. Northern Quarter Makers Market

Northern Quarter Makers Market is the most bohemian of all the markets, with an ultra relaxed vibe. It is truly the best place to spend a Sunday afternoon in the chilled Manchester sunshine, listening to DJ Pasta Paul in a deck chair, drink in hand!

It’s one of the largest of the markets mentioned here, and you can find almost everything you would need for the week – food, crafts and quirky home interiors galore. You’re likely to even spot a Pedddle stallholder or two while wandering round the stalls, like our members The Neighbourhood Threat, or Old Man & Magpie! Not forgetting Okay Cokey that you find at most of these markets!!

This buzzing market is organised by The Makers Market, who run a great number of markets including Chorlton Makers Market, Quayside Makers at Media City Makers Market, Sale Makers Market and more around Manchester and the Cheshire area. Click here to see the full list.

2. Urmston Artisan Market

Urmston is an old market town and has absolutely had all its life pumped backed into it, thanks to The Market Co., who run this lovely artisan market and many more around the area (covering Cheshire and beyond). The locals were thrilled to see a new market return to the original site, and as a result the artisan market here has recreated the thriving, bustling market atmosphere as it was many years ago.

The market, filled to bursting with locally produced foods and tantalising treats, eclectic mix of art and crafts, packed with designers and upcyclers, runs monthly. The original wooden stalls give the market a charming character, and you will find a high-quality range of authentic handcrafted goods with an emphasis on all that is local, ethical and original.

Why not choose from the tempting selection of street food stalls and sit outside and enjoy the live entertainment from homegrown talented musicians? Throughout the year, this makes a lovely day out. Whether it is something for dinner, a gift for a friend, a treat for someone special or simply stocking up on essentials that you can’t get elsewhere, Urmston Artisan Market is the place to visit; it’s a great day out!

3. Chorlton Green Artisan Market

This market has seen many different organisers over the year but more recently Independent Street have taken it on. Just a short tram ride from the city centre you will find Chorlton. Where you can reach the Chorlton Makers Market (previously mentioned) but this little gem sits on the green outside the stunning Horse and Jockey Pub. The locality is super pretty and the relaxed vibe makes for a great day out.

It runs on the final Saturday of the month 10-4pm and offers a mix of food and craft/art stalls – the latter being most popular.

4. Sale Makers Market

On the third Sunday of each month, Sale Makers Market has a superb selection of local food, drink, art and craft for you to peruse. It’s varied selection of stallholders and friendly atmosphere make it a great market to meet friends or spend time with the family, as you can see in the picture below left!

In the heart of Sale, Greater Manchester, it has great access to other areas for a daytrip, making it the ideal market to spend a Sunday morning at.

We obviously couldn’t just stop there at 4! Have you ever explored the towns around Manchester? We have Lymm, Warrington, Great Sankey, Macclesfield, Wilmslow, Whalley, Hebden Bridge, Alderley Edge…too many to mention all of them – but all these towns have fab markets on and you can find them on Pedddle.

Ever heard of Macclesfield Treacle Market? The town comes alive every last Sunday of the month for this event – with a more continental vibe, people loving what the town pulls together from the street food to take it home food to curated vintage stalls and also wonderful craft and gifts. You just will not be disappointed with this offering unless the weather gets the better of you but should it rain, the coffee shop selection is plentiful! Here you will find lots of our members from Sarah Myatt Glass, Eggbert & Daisy and also Marshmallows & S’more.
