Who we are

Hello, I’m Kam. I’m an artist and designer, born, bred and still residing in Derby, UK.

After studying Textile Design (specialising in print), I worked for several years as a print designer in the fashion and clothing industry. The children came along and I was lucky enough to stay at home as a full time Mum. The girls are both at school and I find myself in the enviable position of following my ambition to become a full time artist. I’ve always loved to draw and paint and to be able to call this my ‘job’ really is a dream come true.

KamsArthouse was founded during the first lock-down of 2020. Homeschooling was pretty non-existent, and me and my girls spent most of the time drawing and crafting (much less stressful than Maths and English)!

My work is inspired by people, predominantly head studies. I’m fascinated how light cast shadows on the contours of the face and feel compelled to recreate them on paper. Graphite, coloured pencils and ink are my medium of choice, but I do like to experiment with other processes, you never know when that happy accident will occur!

At present, I create prints from my original artwork but am in the process of creating gift cards too. I only use top quality archival paper for the best colour reproduction and resistance to fading.

All packaging used is British and made from recyclable or compostable materials.
