Who we are

Hello my little ferns,

So I am Kate Kristoffer and I am your maker… Sounds a little dramatic, heehee… but yes, I am your maker and seeker of repurposed taxidermy and entomology specimens, gothic and mythological homewares and gifts… More on my Instagram.

My work is inspired by empty landscapes, forests and darkness and also Germanic and Norse mythology, with a splattering of Tolkien, of course.

I am massively about reusing and repurposing – I hate buying new. I’m no eco activist, but I do my bit like we all should and this is defo something that shows through my makes. I use found materials like my bones and also a builders resin called Jesmonite, which is ecological and sustainable. I use soy or coconut wax for my candles. Animals are sadly road kill or natural deaths in the countryside or antique taxidermy.

I have a long background in History and Art and most recently a degree in Photography. I have also completed lots of taxidermy courses over the last five years and am a member of The Guild of Taxidermists. Five years might seem a decent time training as a taxidermist but it’s actually a very short time in this field!

Everything is made with my intention at the time which in turns creates a `One Of A Kind` piece, or OOAK for short… I can’t be the only person in this world that had to Google that, btw – you’re welcome, if you also did not know. If unique is what floats your boat, then I am your girl.

I also sell curiosities that I find and that find me – vintage & antique.

I use sustainable and eco materials in all aspects of my work. Please see individual listings or my Insta for more information, or message me directly.
