Who we are
AnakhoT means “future” in Lao. We are determined to work together to build a better future for Lao families.
Laos has been devastated by Covid 19. Not by the pandemic itself, with only 19 confirmed cases and no deaths, but by the global lockdown that has brought tourism in Laos to a grinding holt. Many families in Laos rely solely on tourism to support their families. They make exquisite handmade products which were once snapped up by tourists and now sit gathering dust. We visited multiple families and saw these effects first hand, and so the idea for AnakhoT was born.
We work with 3 families at present, each of whom lost their entire income and livelihood to the pandemic. We buy their beautiful products and build a bridge between you and them, making them available to the world. Ms Moua and her family take an entire day to hand stitch one apron! Ms Kia and her family craft their sublime slippers in a tiny mountain village. Ms Pepsi and her family sew their unique patchwork bags using fabric sourced on the boarder between Laos and Vietnam. Each of these products are one of a kind!
We don’t negotiate and we don’t pressure. We simply try and help families who need to reignite their businesses.
We are a new business, but even just in our first few months of operation the impact our work has had on these families has been heart warming and hardened our resolve to keep fighting for families here in Laos. We are planning to add two more families to our growing numbers very soon!
Thank you for helping us to help them.
