What should I post on Instagram?

What should I post on Instagram as a small business owner? Whether you’ve been posting for a while and are stuck in a rut, or you’re just starting out with a new business page, we have plenty of tips and ideas for you!

Why should I post on Instagram?

Whether you’re actively going to markets or selling your products in any other way, remember that Instagram is essentially a magazine.

It’s almost a ‘look book’, where your audience and potential customers can see products that you sell, they can see about you as a business owner, learn and understand more about your business, and essentially get to know you.

You can then use this to convert that audience into paying customers!

This recent blog explained exactly why you need to be on Instagram with a product based business.

What should I post on Instagram? Here are our 3 top tips…

Here is a list of the different things you need to be posting about:

  1. Talk about where your audience can find you, whether that be via your website or this month’s markets (you could even pin details of your month’s markets to the top of your grid), listing the times, dates and what you’re selling there. Tag the markets you’re selling with and they might share your post or Stories about their markets. If you’re a Pedddle Member, mention Pedddle too and tag us for a share!
  2. Make sure your Reels and captions contain SEO keywords relevant to your business/products (same with hashtags!), because social media and search engines are increasingly gearing their algorithms to trawl through words in order to find the content most relevant for the user.
  3. Share different kinds of imagery. We all know that socials are visual, and Instagram is a prime example of this. Not just your products themselves but lifestyle shots, how your products can be used and so on. Keep it relevant to your brand, though! Show your personality through these images, you could even share memes too. People scroll fast, so you need your imagery to be on brand and stand out.

Think outside the box with the imagery you share. Make it ‘on brand’ using your brand colours consistently, consider doing a ‘day in the life’ to show behind the scenes, and use a mixture of static imagery and video content.

Look on Instagram for other inspo – don’t forget than Insta is there to inspire us, not for us to compare ourselves to others!

What else can boost my Instagram engagement?

Instagram is a SOCIAL platform, therefore you’re encouraged to be social!

Like, comment and share posts from other users, and they will in turn share yours. Meta rewards this behaviours by showing your content to even more people, in turn.
